Bandipora, Oct 04 (KNO): A 28-year-old postgraduate youth from a remote village of north Kashmir's Bandipora district is all set to represent India at an international event in Egypt. Irshad Ahmad Ganie, who is going to represent India in world kickboxing championship 2021 that will be held at Egypt from 18th to 24 October, says that he is confident that he will return with a gold medal and his achievements can inspire many youths. Ganie said that he has been involved in sports activities since childhood and at the same time had a keen interest in his studies as a result he completed his post-graduation in Master of Physical Education. Upon hearing the news of Ganie’s selection in an international event, the people of his native village organized a joyous event to appreciate his success. "My journey started in 2007 when I joined a local academy named Ali's Sports under the leadership of Fasil Ali, which trains young boys and girls in martial arts and other sports activities," Ganie told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). "I just want people to be involved in as many sports activities as possible so that we stay fit and healthy," he said. Earlier in 2018 Ganie along with another young girl Abroo represented India in Argentina in a kickboxing championship. Fasil Alli, who was coaching Ganie said that there are 14 athletes from his academy who have participated in international sports events and seven of them have won gold medals so far—(KNO)
